Biostatistics/Bioinformatics Resource (BBR)

Director:
Gary Cutter, Ph.D., Univ of Alabama, Birmingham

The primary objective of the BBR is to provide statistical and bioinformatics support (including genomics) to the research projects, pilot projects and other Cores of the UAB-UCSD OBrien Center for AKI Research. The BBR is the focal point from which investigators can draw expertise for the planning, experimental design, data management, and analysis of their research projects. The specific aims of the BBR are to:

  1. provide statistical expertise in the conceptualization and design of projects;
  2. provide expertise in data management for the clinical and bioinformatics data of the research projects in concert with the Cores, especially Cores A and C;
  3. provide expertise in analysis of research project data; and
  4. assist with the preparation of project reports and presentations and manuscripts;
  5. assist the Administrative Core in scientific review of projects, resource management and integrative datasets using distributed processing and facilitated data transfer;
  6. contribute relevant statistical and bioinformatics developments to the scientific community via publication and presentation.
